Polaris is a 13oz cloth, 35% cotton and 65% polyester, treated water, mildew and flame resistant to CPAI-84. These are built to sit in the Cascades for two weeks in the rain, not to survive one dry weekend.

Nylon packs small and that is the whole of its case. Polaris breathes, it holds heat with a stove in it, and it dries out instead of going sour. That is why outfitters who camp for a living are still using it.
